Like the great Maya Angelou, Annie Ruth's work expands from writing poetry and bringing it to life through music, song, art and education. It has been her writing and her voice that has mobilized a community. Annie Ruth has established herself as an acclaimed poet who reaches people from all walks of life. In 2003 she was named the Taft Museum of Art's Duncanson Artist in Residence and spent numerous weeks presenting poetry throughout the Tri-state area. She continues in the same vein to this day.
